Back from tour in USA

Hi to all!

Now Sámi Jienat is back from USA, in our respective homes in Sweden, Norway and Finland. I hoped that we could blog while touring, but that was an unrealistic dream. We had too much to do, too little time, too much to see, too many great people to meet and too fun to even think of spending time with the computer! Our trip to Minnesota and Michigan was a sucess, thanks to all the indefatigable and happy choir members, the organizers and our amazing audience. The midsummer party at the shore of Lake Superior was a memory for lifetime. We had also some eventful days in Minneapolis with a various and interesting program. We are all so grateful that we were given the possibilities to present our cultural treasures and to meet so many good and great people.

Yes, it was quite an experience to lead and manage 30 people in three different languages in a foreign country with other customs and practices, partly without phone connection to each other or the organizers! Even my American cell phone refused to accept incoming calls or send messages at some moments. So one evening when I (by accident) called 911, I considered for a second to accept their offer for emergency assistance, haha.  But I have to praise the choir members and musicians for their patience and professionality in both work and privacy, day and night. We are a good working team, more a family than a choir, I realized.

To all the people who made this trip to an unforgettable adventure, thanks! Kiitos! Takk! Giitu!

So what next? Mount Everest? No challenge is too big after this...

 Marie

Bures! and giitu to the choir for all they shared with the Finnfest celebrations. Everyone who heard and met you was honored to be in your presence.
